I have been photographing most of my life, I can remember back to 1970 having a 110 film camera and snapping photos well at functions and competitions our volunteer ambulance corps youth group held.    I purchased my first SLR camera in 1979 and spent many years photographing upstate NY. During the early 1980's I would close off the spare bathroom and turn on the red safety light and spend time developing and printing B&W photos from my skydiving days (Those days are long gone).

When digital cameras became somewhat main stream I quickly adopted this new format. Shooting my last roll of film about 2002.  It been fun watching the revitalization of film over the past few years, but I have made the decision to stay with digital photography and explore new methods of digital exposure.

As self-taught film photographer, I found myself wanting to learn more so I completed the New York Institute of photography program, enrolled in many online classes each one building on the knowledge I already had. I became a Certified Professional Photographer through the Professional photographers of America in 2014.

I find the best way to learn is by doing and I did attend several workshops and I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of hands on instruction offered. In 2015 I approached Sonny Portacio and we started Explore Photography Workshops this venue has allowed me to give back to our clients and give them direct one on one instruction. I enjoy making sure they learn a new technique or fully understand a new concept while in the field so they can get a photograph to be proud of.

Cosentino Studio provides general photography services throughout upstate New York. I offer my services either on location or in my Franklin Square studio in downtown Utica
